By slowing the tempo of body rhythms and settling to deep stillness, we can relax, turn inward and restructure both physically and emotionally, integrating the various parts of our selves, create balance, and begin to self-correct. This work is lovely for reducing the charge of the sympathetic nervous system through containment and transformation rather than cathartic emotional release. Your body can spend a lot of energy maintaining a holding pattern. It is an expression of health. Be it emotional or physical, you are providing containment for an injury site, until it is ready to resolve, release and reorganize. I think of an "energy block" as a seed, seemingly inert, but full of vitality, a container for a tremendous amount of healthy life force. |
